■ FOOD WITH A VIEW
THE CAPE OFFERS MANY WATERFRONT DINING OPTIONS
It’s not uncommon for Cape Cod restaurants to receive
requests for “a table with a view.” This almost always refers
to a saltwater view. And, fortunately, Cape Cod and the Islands
offer many water-view dining spots.
For purists who demand waterfront dining, however, with
the sea virtually lapping at the door, the list is a bit shorter, yet
a variety of options still exist. Whether it’s a little clam shack
overlooking a busy harbor or a fine-dining establishment just a
stone’s throw from the ocean, visitors are sure to find a view to
fit their tastes.
Family-friendly Spanky’s Clam Shack & Seaside Saloon
(138 Ocean St., Hyannis; 508-771-2770), for example, offers
spectacular views of the everyday hustle and bustle of Hyannis
Harbor. Large windows capture the daily show, while the blueand-white
checkered tablecloths and fun menu filled with
seafood and popular local colloquialisms solidify this
waterfront establishment as both lively and laid-back. An
outdoor patio affords diners an even closer view of the action.
For more placid show-stopping vistas, try Hemisphere (98
Town Neck Rd., Sandwich; 508-888-6166) at the entrance of
the Cape Cod Canal in Sandwich. Hemisphere serves up
expansive views of Cape Cod Bay to go along with its eclectic

menu of moderately priced dishes. Upper and lower outdoor
decks allow patrons to enjoy the tang of the salty air along with
their meals.
