old. It reorganized in 1963 with the
support of the NCAA.
■ The league exists as a 10-team, non-profit
0rganization.
■ In 1984,the league switched from aluminum
to wooden bats to more accurately reflect
the game as its played at the Major League
level.
■ Players pay “house parents” $50 a week for
room and board.
■ Chewing tobacco is banned.
■ Players use birch bats made locally by
Barnstable Bat Co. in Centerville.
■ All games are broadcast on the Internet.
